Libya: Gaddafi extends ultimatum

Moreno Ocampo, estimated at "thousands" number of deaths since the start of the revolt against the regime of Muammar Gaddafi on 15 February, did not identify the people required, but diplomatic sources reported that Libyan leader would likely be in the list.
The prosecutor stated that "the evidence collected is sufficient to conclude that they have been committed and continue to be committed massive and systematic attacks against the civilian population in Libya, including murder and persecution as crimes against humanity ".
For its part, the United States urged the Libyan regime Muammar Gaddafi to cease bombing Misrata port (west) and to authorize the delivery of international aid and the evacuation of civilians.
"We urge the Gadhafi regime to cease all hostilities against the Port of Misrata" said Mark Toner, spokesman for the U.S. State Department.

After a calm night, the fighting continued in the west and southwest of Misrata, miles from the center, according to rebel sources.
After a day marked by unrest, the regime announced the ultimatum expired at midnight for the rebels to surrender, he thought extend "one or two days." ;
in Benghazi, a car bomb, the first in the rebel stronghold, took place on Tuesday night, near the headquarters of the CNT, causing two minor injuries.

On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, three loud explosions were heard in Tripoli, where on Saturday night during a NATO bombing killed a son of Gaddafi, Seif Al Arab, 29, and three grandchildren.
The objective of the international military intervention in Libya, "Gadhafi does not kill" but "to attack military targets in Tripoli and stop as soon as possible NATO airstrikes, said French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe, dismissing as" collateral damage " death of the son of Gaddafi.
"I hope this does not last more than a few weeks, at most a few months, but it is premature to speak of stagnation," he added.

For its part, France will propose "in the coming weeks," the organizing a "Friends of Libya conference" to prepare the country's political transition, said French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
