U.S. Military were in 2008 a few meters from the house of Bin Laden



A U.S. Army unit was designed in October 2008 a few meters from the residence of the leader of Al Qaida, Osama bin Laden, because of their participation in work training in Pakistan Military Academy in Abbottabad, 60 miles north of Islamabad.

A diplomatic cable recently released by Wikileaks, cited Wednesday by the British newspaper The Guardian indicates that U.S. soldiers participating in a routine mission of "training the trainers" for the Frontier Corps, a Pakistani army unit formed by 70,000 federal troops.

Specifically, the cable reports on a meeting in Washington between the then U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary John Negroponte and then-Defense Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi to discuss, among other issues, cooperation in military training. Two trips

The cable shows that U.S. forces visited the city for the second time a few months later, in early 2009.

This information coincides with the publication by Wikileaks from other leads from the Guantanamo detention center, according to which U.S. intelligence had recibidoinformaciones on the whereabouts of Bin Laden just in 2008.

Academy Pakistan Army is in Abbottabad, a few blocks away from the residence where he lived and that Bin Laden died last Monday during a special operation in the U.S. Army.
